I-77 in Florida

Continuing southward from Georgia, I-77 would stay multiplexed with I-75 until reaching Wildwood, where the two routes would split off.  With I-75 continuing southwestward to Tampa, I-77 would turn southeastward onto the Florida Turnpike towards the Orlando/Kissimmee area.  It would terminate in Miami, and two scenarios are possible:

  • I-77 would end at I-95 north of downtown Miami;

             OR

  • I-77 could continue down the Homestead Extension, with the spur leading into downtown an I-x77 or I-x95 route.  It would terminate south of Miami.

There would be little to no upgrading of the current roads that would be signed as I-77.  The Turnpike is an interstate-standard toll road linking Wildwood to Miami.  The I-77 corridor would provide a direct north-south interstate route between Orlando and Miami.  Additionally, it would provide a great alternate route to the frequently-congested I-75 and I-95.
