I-77 in Georgia

If I-77 were constructed in Georgia, this is the route it would most likely take:

From South Carolina, I-77 would be routed along the US 301 corridor to Jesup, where it would take a southwestward turn towards Waycross onto US 84.  It would continue on US 84 to Valdosta, and then join I-75 to the Florida state line.  With I-77's tie in to I-75 at Valdosta, motorists would have a choice of going directly to Columbia and Charlotte without ever having to swing through Atlanta.

Sections of US 84 and US 301 would have to be upgraded to Interstate standards in order to be signed as I-77.  Alternately, a new parallel routing could also be built.
